How can you tell apple iphone from fake chinese iphone?
Author: admin // Category: Apple iPhonemy friend just bought fake chinese iphone 3G for $150, it just looks like an Iphone, and it has the apple logo and everything, but close inspection, you could tell it’s a clone, because, it doesn’t have the apple softwares and it’s made off cheap plastic and stuff.
so what do you do?
I mean only after you open the damn thing, and charge the battery, can you tell, but not just by looking at cover package.
It’s buyer beware if you don’t buy from an authorized Apple dealer. Take that fake phone & smash it into oblivion.

I agree Buyer beware. Nothing can be done. When you try to be cheap you get cheated.
The iPhone 3G[S} is $199 and the regular 3G is $99 (w/contract) so your friend isn’t very smart.
Requires new two-year AT&T wireless service contract, sold separately to qualified customers; credit check required; must be 18 or older. Existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G should check with AT&T or use http://www.apple.com/iphone/buy to find out if they are eligible for early upgrade pricing: $299 (8GB), $399 (16GB), or $499 (32GB) with a new two-year contract. For those who are not eligible for an early upgrade or who wish to buy iPhone as a gift, the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB). In CA, MA, and RI, sales tax is collected on the unbundled price of iPhone.

Update :: To the poster below me the phone is $99 when you GET A NEW CONTRACT. I included a link for them to see it. Grow up child, and maybe one day you can become a Top Contributor, when you give sensible answers.

miss B is kinda dumb. that price does not include the 2 yr. contract. and your friends is unlocked to use on ATT or Tmobile. right ? some but not all chinese iphones do the same thing as iphones except for the actual iphone apps. all the other stuff is the same as long as it has java installed on it. and where do you think apple has the iphone made? little elves in redmond, wash.?

Miss B’s answer is the BEST ANSWER.
Tom is a moron!!! The phone is offered for $99 with a new contract.
Your friend should just get an iPhone from the apple website.

The easiest way to tell if a phone that’s being sold is a fake is to look at the price. Real iPhones aren’t inexpensive. If you’re getting a good price on a new phone with no contract, you’re buying a fake.

Well Miss B and everyone else except that dumbass Tom was right.
There is no real way to know.
And if the person bought it from the right place in the beginning they wouldnt be in this problem. Oh well.
